Our friends from the "Initiative Dessauer Ufer" have been fighting for almost ten years to preserve the Lagerhaus G, which was used in 1944/1945 as one of the largest satellite camps of the Neuengamme concentration camp.

At that time, 1,500 women, persecuted as Jews, and later 2,000 male concentration camp prisoners were detained there. As part of the so-called “Geilenberg Program,” they were forced to do hard labor in the port, such as construction and cleanup work.
Traces of the imprisoned there can still be found in the building today.

The initiative is committed to ensuring that the building is thoroughly researched, renovated, and put to use for the common good.
